What is Agentic ERP?

ERP — enterprise resource planning — has always promised one system for the whole business. In practice, most ERPs are still systems of record: they store data well, but getting answers out of them means reports, exports and specialists. “Agentic ERP” changes that by putting an AI agent on top of the same data.
Three layers, not one feature
It helps to separate three things that often get blurred together:
- A chatbot answers general questions but doesn't know your data.
- An AI feature does one narrow task inside one module.
- An AI agent reasons across your live business data and can take action — within the limits of what the user is allowed to do.
Agentic ERP is the third. The agent isn't bolted onto a single screen; it works across every module on the same permission model and audit trail as the rest of the platform.
Permission-aware and audited by design
The hard part of an AI agent in a business system isn't the chat — it's safety. A useful agent has to respect who's asking. In TekyAgent, the agent only ever sees what the signed-in user is allowed to see, and every action it takes is recorded in the same audit trail as a human action. That's what makes it safe to give an agent real reach across sales, HR, finance and operations.
Why it matters
When the agent can read and act across one integrated data model, the gap between a question and an answer collapses. “What's my pipeline this month?”, “Which milestones are overdue?” or “Draft a follow-up to this customer” become one sentence instead of a report request. That's the practical promise of agentic ERP.
See it on your own business.
